Douro-Dummer, Ontario was originally inhabited by the Mississauga Anishinaabe people. European settlers arrived in the early 1800s. Douro-Dummer Township was formed on January 1, 1998, through the amalgamation of Douro and Dummer Townships.

Douro-Dummer Township in Ontario offers a variety of parks and recreational activities for visitors and residents alike. From baseball fields and soccer fields to playgrounds and public beaches, the township provides a range of amenities for outdoor fun and relaxation.
The Warsaw Caves Conservation Area is a popular destination in Douro-Dummer. It features a network of caves and hiking trails for visitors to explore and enjoy, along with camping and other outdoor recreational activities.
Occurring on the Labour Day weekend, this annual event takes place featuring a baseball tournament, 10km run, car show, friendly competitions, home-cooked meals, and a chance to win a handmade quilt.
