March Break in Peterborough

It’s just about that time! The first sign of spring — March Break! Not going out of town? Well with the weather ever so slightly warming up and Day Light Savings time “springing forward” there’s a ton you can do with the family this week in and around Peterborough.

The Peterborough Public Library has a ton of fun activities every day of the week and for a variety of ages!

The Lonely Giant interactive storytime at 10:15am (tickets required)

Friday, March 17th
Plasticine Workshop for ages 5 to 8 at 10:15am (pre-registration required)
Cake Decorating at 12pm (pre-registration required)

The Peterborough Wellness Centre will have a free family swim on Friday March 10th 6:30pm – 8pm. It will be first come first serve with a maximum of 175 swimmers. More info here: https://bit.ly/3ZX2AJF

 

Our local real estate board, Peterborough and the Kawarthas Association of Realtors (PKAR), is hosting family skating throughout the Kawarthas all week long. For more information visit https://www.pkar.org/marchbreakskating

 

Interested in visiting a maple syrup festival? The 35th annual Warkworth Maple Syrup Festival is happening March 11th and 12th at Sandy Flat Sugar Bush. Enjoy a pancake breakfast, horse & wagon rides, maple taffy in the snow, and live music. Free shuttle bus available to and from downtown Warkworth. Don’t miss the 20th annual St Patrick’s Day parade returning to downtown Peterborough on Sunday, March 12th. The Flag Raising will happen at 1:00pm at City Hall. The parade starts at 2pm and will head south on George Street from McDonnel. Road closures will be over by 4pm. More info here: http://pspdp.com/ 

 

Want to get the kids outside and be more active? Why not try cross-country skiing? Head over to the Kawartha Nordic Ski Club website for more info on their day passes and trail conditions. Ski and snowshoe rentals are available in their rental shop.

 

Have younger kids at home and just looking to get out of the house? The Peterborough Child and Family Centre has a bunch of drop-in programs for families with children ages 0-6 years. They are located at 201 Antrim Street. For more info: https://ptbocfc.ca/
