Asphodel Norwood, Ontario was originally inhabited by the Mississauga Anishinaabe people. It was settled by Europeans in the early 1800s. The Village of Norwood and the Township of Asphodel were amalgamated in 1998 to form the Township of Asphodel–Norwood.
Asphodel-Norwood is comprised of a number of villages and hamlets, including Birdsall, Birdsall Station, Norwood and Westwood.
